The Cross River State Government, alongside various partners, is proud to host the 3rd Edition of the Nigerian Secondary Schools Flag Football League (NSSFFL), aptly named the AKETI BOWL II During a reception for the NAFA entourage in her office, the Cross River State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Agnes Atsu, expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the positive impact that NAFA President has had in the state, She said there will be a great benefit to secondary school students and sports in the state and country at large, through American Football Tournament. She noted that she operates an open door policy that aligns with collaboration and sustainability in partnerships. Reacting, the President of the Nigeria american Football Association, Mr. Babagide Akeredolu, who spoke about the game, said it involves the male and female categories competing whereby selected champions will be representing the country. He highlighted that the sport is growing in awareness and commended the state government for creating a supportive environment for its development. He also mentioned that nine states are participating, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, FCT, Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Kwara, Rivers, Benue, and of course, Cross River, which is proudly hosting the tournament. The event is scheduled to take place from January 15th to 16th, 2025, from 8 AM to 5 PM daily, at the UJ Esuene Sports Stadium in Calabar. The was a courtesy visit to the State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, press briefing, among other activities to unfold.
